Located on Queensland’s stunning Sunshine Coast, the newly renovated Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club has a captivating history tied to the iconic SS Dicky. On a fateful day, February 4th, 1893, amidst treacherous weather, the SS Dicky was blown ashore at Caloundra, leaving its mark on the picturesque coastline that is now known as Dicky Beach. Inspired by the club’s esteemed lifesaving legacy and the rich history of the Dicky, we embarked on designing a menu that pays homage to these remarkable stories.
Our journey began with the creation of the Wreck logo. It captures the essence of the Dicky Wreck, which has recently been respectfully removed by the Sunshine Coast Council for historic preservation. Using old images and references, we meticulously designed the logo to reflect the wreck as it stood just before its removal. The logo stands as a symbol of nostalgia, evoking memories of the golden days while embracing the spirit of progress.
With the Club’s profound history in mind, we seamlessly blended the past with the present in crafting the menu. By incorporating vintage imagery from the Club’s archives, we carefully curated a visual experience that not only delights the eyes but also stirs emotions of nostalgia. Each design element invites diners to reminisce about the good old days while embracing the excitement of the present.
Our menu is a harmonious fusion of aesthetics and sentiment, capturing the essence of the Club’s heritage and its vibrant future. It serves as a tribute to the past and a celebration of the new, offering an enchanting dining experience that invites guests to embark on a journey through time.
Join us at the Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club and indulge in our nostalgic menu—a culinary voyage that intertwines history, good taste, and cherished memories.
